Ready and Active Project

The Ready and Active project by R-Youth CIC is a comprehensive program supporting vulnerable young people aged 10-19 from high-crime areas who are at risk of gang involvement, anti-social behavior, and criminal activity. Running primarily on Saturdays, the project is structured around two key components, operating in various hotspot areas:

  1. Outreach Work in Hotspot Areas:

    • The project conducts consistent outreach in key locations, including Wakefield city center, Eastmoor/Queens Park, Thornes Park, and Jubilee Park. By directly engaging young people within these communities, the outreach work builds trust, provides immediate support, and creates meaningful connections where young people need it most.

  2. Group Activities on Alternate Weeks:

    • On alternate weeks, structured group sessions are held in and around these locations. These sessions encourage a healthy, active lifestyle through multisport activities such as rugby, football, dodgeball, basketball, and boxing circuits. They are designed to foster teamwork, confidence, and resilience. Additionally, these sessions include educational discussions on mental health, safety, and pathways to higher education, vocational training, and employment. The project also offers educational sessions on Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) and Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).

Funded by the National Lottery, the Ready and Active project combines outreach and structured group activities in these areas to empower young people to overcome social barriers, stay safe, and develop positive life skills. It provides a safe space for personal growth, connection, and long-term benefits for participants.
